Go-Ferm Protect | Lallemand | Yeast Rehydration Nutrient
Go-Ferm Protect Yeast Rehydration Nutrient
Go-Ferm Protect is a Lallemand yeast rehydration nutrient used in hydration water before pitching yeast. It is intended to support yeast during the rehydration step, when dry yeast cells are taking up water and preparing for fermentation.
Use Go-Ferm Protect before the yeast goes into the must, juice, cider, mead, or wort. It is not the same thing as a fermentation nutrient added later in the batch, and it should not be treated as a replacement for a full nutrient plan when the recipe needs one.
How to use Go-Ferm Protect
Follow the rehydration instructions for your yeast and nutrient schedule. In general, Go-Ferm Protect is mixed into warm rehydration water first, then the dry yeast is added to that nutrient water before pitching. Avoid adding DAP directly to yeast rehydration water; DAP-based nutrients belong later in the fermentation plan when they are called for.
Best uses
- Rehydrating wine, mead, cider, and other dry fermentation yeast
- Fermentations where dry yeast vitality matters from the start
- Mead and fruit fermentations that use a planned nutrient schedule
Go-Ferm vs. fermentation nutrients
Go-Ferm Protect supports yeast at rehydration. Fermaid O, Fermaid K, DAP, and other fermentation nutrients are added to the batch according to the fermentation schedule. For the full category, browse our yeast nutrients and enhancers.
