Brewing kettles are the workhorse vessels for heating strike water, boiling wort, dissolving malt extract, and building all-grain or extract brew day systems. Choose a kettle around batch size, heat source, port layout, cleaning access, and the way you plan to chill or transfer after the boil.

A good kettle setup should make the hot side of brew day easier to control. Confirm usable volume, valve and thermometer placement, lifting clearance, and whether the kettle needs to work with an immersion chiller, pump, hop spider, or recirculation path.

How to choose a brewing kettle

• Batch size: leave enough headspace for hot break, hop additions, and boil movement.
• Ports and fittings: match valves, thermometers, tubing, and quick disconnects to the way you transfer wort.
• Cleaning access: plan for scrub access, cleaner contact, and safe handling after a sticky boil.
• Process fit: extract brewers, BIAB brewers, and three-vessel all-grain systems can need different kettle features.
