Fermaid O Organic Yeast Nutrient | 12 g & 120 g
Fermaid O Yeast Nutrient for Mead, Wine, Cider, and Beer
Fermaid O is a DAP-free organic yeast nutrient used to support clean, complete fermentation in mead, wine, cider, and beer. It is made from inactivated yeast and supplies organic nitrogen plus yeast-supporting micronutrients without relying on diammonium phosphate.
For mead makers, Fermaid O is especially useful in staggered nutrient addition schedules because it feeds yeast over the course of fermentation. Used as part of a planned nutrient schedule, it can help reduce stressed-yeast problems such as sulfur aromas and sluggish fermentation.
How much Fermaid O per gallon?
These are practical starting points. Adjust your nutrient schedule based on starting gravity, yeast strain, fruit load, and the fermentation you are making.
- Mead and wine: 1.25 to 2.5 g per gallon, often split across 2 to 3 additions.
- Cider: about 1 g per gallon, commonly added around the 1/3 sugar break.
- Beer or mixed fermentation: 0.5 to 1 g per gallon when organic yeast nutrition is useful.
Best uses
- Traditional, session, and fruit meads
- White and red wines
- Hard cider and fruit wine fermentations
- Wild, mixed-fermentation, or naturally minded beer projects
- DAP-free nutrient schedules
