Roasty, Nutty Specialty Malt for Unique Coffee-Like Flavor
Simpsons Brown (Coffee) Malt is a distinctive specialty malt that brings rich, roasted flavors with a hint of coffee-like bitterness to your brews. Known for its ability to add a nutty, toasted character, this malt is a great addition to darker beer styles or for adding complexity to lighter ales. Whether you're brewing a traditional English porter, a brown ale, or experimenting with hybrid styles, Simpsons Brown (Coffee) Malt provides a unique flavor profile that enhances the richness of your beer.
Flavor and Aroma Profile
Simpsons Brown (Coffee) Malt offers a robust, roasted flavor with notes of toasted nuts, dark coffee, and a subtle hint of caramel. The malt delivers a dark brown color and a rich, malty aroma that contributes to the beer's complexity. It has a balanced, yet bold profile that works well in beers where a deeper malt character is desired without overpowering other flavors.
Typical Usage
This specialty malt is ideal for porters, brown ales, stouts, and even some pale ales, adding depth and a coffee-like richness to the beer. It is typically used in smaller quantities (5-10% of the grain bill) to prevent overwhelming bitterness while providing a smooth, roasted complexity. Simpsons Brown (Coffee) Malt can also be used as a substitute for Chocolate Malt when a less intense, more nutty flavor is desired.
