Crisp Scottish Premium Pot Still Malt for Distilling
Crisp Scottish Premium Pot Still Malt is a distillers malt developed for malt whiskey and pot still spirit production. Crisp describes it as made from spring distillers-approved barley varieties, glycosidic nitrile free, highly fermentable, and malted for reliable mashing and conversion.
Use this malt when the mash needs a clean, balanced cereal-malt foundation rather than specialty malt intensity. Crisp notes that it has enough diastatic power to convert itself and other malts, making it useful as a dependable base under smaller specialty malt additions in character-driven spirit mashes.
Distilling Role
- Purpose: built for malt whiskey and pot still spirit production.
- Mash performance: high fermentability and consistent modification help support efficient conversion.
- Flavor: clean, balanced malt character with subtle cereal sweetness.
- Recipe role: use as the main base malt or blend with specialty malts for more layered spirit character.
How to Plan the Mash
