Weyermann® Pilsner Malt for Crisp, Clean German Base Malt Character
Weyermann® Pilsner Malt is a classic German base malt for brewers who want a pale, clean, highly usable foundation that supports hops and fermentation character without feeling bland. It brings a light grainy sweetness and soft honey-like note that work especially well in pilsner, lager, Kölsch, and other beers where the malt profile should stay refined rather than heavy.
Because it is so versatile, this malt can be used as the full base of a pale grain bill or as the main foundation in more layered recipes. It is a dependable choice for brewers who want a German-style base malt that stays crisp and expressive without taking over the finished beer.
Why It Is So Useful
- Flavor: Clean malt sweetness with delicate grain and honey notes
- Color: Very pale, ideal for bright lagers and pale ales
- Versatility: Works as a primary base malt across a wide range of styles
Best Uses
Weyermann® Pilsner Malt is a natural fit for German pilsner, Helles, Kölsch, pale lager, and other beers where a crisp base is part of the style. It is also a strong choice for hop-forward pale recipes that need a lighter foundation than standard pale ale malt often provides.
If your goal is a high-quality pale base malt with a clean German profile and broad brewing flexibility, Weyermann® Pilsner Malt is an easy staple to build around.
