First Gold Hops for Brewing
First Gold is offered here in T-90 pellet form for brewers who want orange marmalade, citrus, spice, and classic British hop depth.
First Gold is a modern British dwarf hop released from the Wye College breeding program in the 1990s. It brings Golding-like character with more alpha acid and a clear citrus edge.
Flavor and Brewing Character
Expect orange, marmalade, spice, floral, herbal. It works well in English-style ales where the hop should feel traditional but brighter than a purely earthy or woody variety.
How to Use First Gold
- Best uses: general kettle hopping, late-boil additions, restrained dry hopping, and balanced bittering/aroma use.
- Typical beer styles: British golden ale, bitter, ESB, pale ale, IPA
- Pairing ideas: Use with East Kent Goldings, Fuggle, Challenger, Willamette, or Styrian Goldings in British and Belgian-leaning recipes.
