3-Piece Fermentation Airlock for Beer, Wine, Cider and Mead
3-Piece Fermentation Airlock
This 3-piece fermentation airlock lets carbon dioxide escape from a fermenter while helping limit outside air, dust, and debris from moving back through the opening. It is a standard fermentation accessory for beer, wine, cider, mead, hard seltzer, kombucha, and other small-batch fermentation projects.
The three-piece design can be taken apart for cleaning, which helps after active fermentations push foam, yeast, fruit, or hop material into the airlock. Use it with a compatible drilled stopper, bung, fermenter lid, or carboy cap.
Best Uses
- Primary fermentation: vents CO2 from compatible fermenters while the batch is actively fermenting.
- Secondary aging: works for carboys and jugs during wine, cider, mead, or beer conditioning.
- Small fermenters: practical for one-gallon jugs, test batches, starters, and trial fermentations when the stopper or lid fits.
- Easy cleaning: comes apart so dried residue is easier to remove than from many one-piece airlocks.
Use and Cleaning Notes
Fill the airlock to the proper level with sanitizer or another appropriate airlock liquid, keep it upright, and check it during fermentation so it does not dry out. For very vigorous fermentation, use a blowoff setup until activity settles down.
