Rye Brewing Grains
Rye Brewing Grains
Rye brings a dry, spicy grain character with more body and texture than most barley base malts. It works well in rye IPA, saison, roggenbier, stout, porter, farmhouse beer, and malt-forward ales that need a sharper grain edge.
This collection includes malted rye, flaked rye, crystal rye, chocolate rye, and regional rye malts. Rye is huskless and can make the mash sticky at higher percentages, so rice hulls are a practical add-on when rye becomes a meaningful part of the grain bill.
Use rye with a clean base malt when you want the rye character to stand out, or layer it with crystal malts and roasted malts for darker recipes.
