Wheat Happens Hefeweizen | All-Grain Recipe Kit | 5 Gallons

Wheat Happens Hefeweizen is a bright, hazy Bavarian-style wheat beer recipe kit with a playful name and a classic beer target: soft wheat character, pale malt, pillowy foam, gentle noble-hop bitterness, and expressive banana-and-clove yeast character.

Companion version: This is the all-grain version of Wheat Happens Hefeweizen. If you want a shorter brew day using wheat malt extract instead of a full mash, see the extract version of Wheat Happens Hefeweizen.

Grain Milling

We automatically mill the grains included with SoCal Brewing Supply beer recipe kits so they are ready for brew day. If you want the grains left unmilled, please add that request in the shopping cart notes before checkout. We’ll do our best to support unmilled requests when packing your order.

Fermentation Requirements

Use a clean, sanitized fermenter with enough headspace for a vigorous wheat-beer krausen. Pitch Mangrove Jack’s M20 into well-aerated wort around 64–68°F. Hold fermentation around 64–70°F for balanced clove and banana, or let it edge slightly warmer if you want more fruit. Confirm final gravity is stable before packaging.

  • Weyermann® Pilsner Malt: 72 Ounces

Recipe and Measuring Notes

This all-grain version uses a wheat-forward grist with Pilsner malt, pale wheat malt, a small Munich malt layer, gentle Hallertau Mittelfrüh bitterness, and Mangrove Jack’s M20 for classic hefeweizen fermentation character. The kit ships a full 1 oz hop pack; weigh about 0.75 oz for the boil and reserve the small remainder.

Flavor and Brewing Character

Expect a hazy golden pour, soft bready wheat, light grainy sweetness, restrained bitterness, and the classic hefeweizen yeast profile. This is a fresh-drinking beer; package carefully, avoid oxygen pickup, and serve it young.
