Velvet Tap Nitro Dry Irish Stout All-grain Recipe Kit for Dry Irish Stout / Nitro Draft Stout Character

Velvet Tap Nitro Dry Irish Stout is inspired by the Irish dry stout tradition: dark, roasty, lower in alcohol than many modern stouts, and built for smooth pub-style drinkability. The style is famous for its balance of roasted barley bite, dry finish, and creamy presentation when served on nitrogen beer gas.

This all-grain kit is for brewers who want a proper dry stout with black color, coffee-like roast, restrained body, and a finish that stays crisp instead of sweet. Serve it on beer gas with a stout faucet for the full nitro effect, or carbonate normally for a clean, roasty draft stout.

This is the all-grain version. If you want the extract format for a different brew day, see the companion listing: Velvet Tap Nitro Dry Irish Stout | Extract Recipe Kit | 5 Gallons.

Fermentation Requirements

  • Recommended fermentation range: 64–68°F.
  • Pitch healthy yeast into fully chilled wort; do not pitch into hot wort.
  • Use gravity readings, not airlock activity alone, to confirm fermentation is complete.

Why Brewers Choose This Kit

This kit connects recipe brewing directly to draft service and is especially appealing for customers interested in beer gas, nitro pours, and local draft-system support.

Brewing Notes

  • Default grain handling: included grain is milled by default and packed together unless a listing or order note says otherwise.
  • Mash around 152°F for balanced body and dry finish.
  • For nitro-style service, carbonate lower than a typical ale, then serve cold on beer gas through a stout faucet or restrictor plate.
  • A common beer-gas setup uses a nitrogen/CO₂ blend such as 70/30 at higher serving pressure, often around 25–35 PSI, adjusted for your line length, temperature, and faucet.
  • If serving on standard CO₂ instead, keep carbonation moderate so the dry roast and creamy body stay balanced.

If you are bottle conditioning, Priming Sugar is sold separately. Use our Priming Sugar Calculator to calculate priming sugar from your actual packaged volume, beer temperature, and carbonation target.

If you are kegging, use our Keg Carbonation Calculator to match CO₂ pressure, serving temperature, and desired carbonation level before serving.

Brewing all-grain in a single vessel? A BIAB bag is a useful add-on for easier mash handling, grain removal, and cleanup.
