Tropical Hazy IPA All-Grain Recipe Kit for Juicy Citra, Mosaic, and Azacca Character

This 5 gallon all-grain recipe kit is built for a soft, fruit-forward hazy IPA with saturated tropical hop aroma, a pale golden haze, and a rounded body from oats and wheat. Citra, Mosaic, and Azacca push mango, citrus, berry, pineapple, and ripe stone-fruit character, while 2 sachets LalBrew Pomona Hybrid IPA Yeast supports the juicy profile without turning the beer heavy or sweet.

The grist uses Rahr 2-Row as a clean base, with flaked oats and white wheat for haze stability, mouthfeel, and foam. Rice hulls are included to help the mash lauter more smoothly with the high oat and wheat load.

This is the all-grain version. If you want the same beer in a shorter brew-day format, see the extract with grains version here.

Beer Profile

  • Style: Hazy IPA / New England-style IPA
  • Batch Size: 5 gallons
  • ABV: Approximately 6.92% at 74% efficiency
  • Mash Temperature: 153°F
  • Boil Time: 60 minutes
  • Yeast: 2 sachets LalBrew Pomona Hybrid IPA Yeast

Grain Milling

We automatically mill the grains included with SoCal Brewing Supply beer recipe kits so they are ready for brew day. If you want the grains left unmilled, please add that request in the shopping cart notes before checkout. We’ll do our best to support unmilled requests when packing your order.

Flavor and Brewing Character

Expect a hazy IPA with expressive tropical fruit, citrus, soft berry, and stone-fruit hop character. The malt profile is intentionally pale and plush rather than bitter or caramel-heavy, giving the hops room to stay bright while the oats and wheat create the soft body brewers expect from the style.

Why Brewers Choose the All-Grain Version

The all-grain version gives you full control over mash temperature, fermentability, and final body. For this recipe, that control matters because the balance between soft mouthfeel, haze stability, and drinkability depends on a clean conversion and a well-managed mash.

Default grain handling: The all-grain version is milled by default, and the grains are packed together in a single bag unless a listing or order note says otherwise.

Brewing Notes

  • Mash at 153°F: This supports a soft body without making the beer syrupy.
  • Use the rice hulls: They help prevent runoff issues from the oats and wheat.
  • Whirlpool around 170°F: This protects hop aroma while limiting harsh bitterness.
  • Dry hop near the end of fermentation: Keep contact time controlled and avoid unnecessary oxygen exposure.
  • Package gently: Hazy IPAs fade quickly if oxygen gets in after fermentation.

Fermentation Requirements

  • Fermenter: Use a clean, sanitized fermenter with enough headspace for a healthy 5 gallon fermentation.
  • Temperature control: Keep fermentation steady and follow the yeast or instruction-sheet temperature guidance for the cleanest result.
  • Packaging: Confirm fermentation is complete before bottling or kegging, then package carefully to avoid oxygen pickup.
