Ideal Yeast for Secondary Fermentation
LalBrew® CBC-1 is a Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain specifically selected for its refermentation properties, making it ideal for cask and bottle conditioning. It exhibits high resistance to alcohol and pressure, ensuring efficient refermentation without altering the original character of the beer. This yeast forms a tight sediment at the bottom of the bottle or cask, resulting in clear, well-conditioned beer. Additionally, LalBrew® CBC-1 is suitable for primary fermentation of dry ciders, meads, and hard seltzers, achieving high attenuation with a clean and neutral flavor profile.
This 11g sachet is designed to ferment up to 6 gallons (23 liters) of wort, making it ideal for homebrewers.
Key Characteristics:
- Attenuation: High
- Flocculation: High
- Alcohol Tolerance: 12-14% ABV for refermentation; up to 18% ABV for primary fermentation

Our Commitment to Yeast Health
At SoCal Brewing Supply, we take yeast storage and viability very seriously (Yes, even Dry yeasts). We ensure yeast is always stored under optimal conditions, with 24-hour monitoring of refrigerator temperatures to prevent spikes that could negatively impact yeast health.
For Dry yeast shipments, we offer ice packs and insulated envelopes as an optional add-on for customers looking for extra protection during hotter months. It’s normal for ice packs to melt during transit; their purpose is to protect the yeast from extreme temperatures caused by external weather conditions.
