Flavor & Aroma Profile

SafAle BE-134 is a true saison-style yeast that showcases the spicy and fruity esters typical of classic Belgian farmhouse ales. BE-134 ferments extremely dry, leaving little residual sweetness and yielding highly refreshing beers with great drinkability.

Ideal Beer Styles

  • Belgian Saison
  • Farmhouse Ales
  • Bière de Garde (with adjustments)
  • Belgian Table Beer
  • Specialty Saisons with spices or fruit

Fermentation & Usage Tips

  • Direct pitch: E2U™ certified—no rehydration necessary.
  • Optional rehydration: Rehydrate in 10× its weight of sterile water at 77–84°F (25–29°C) for 15–30 minutes.
  • Dosage: 50–80 g/hL; one 11.5 g sachet treats 5–6 gallons.
  • Fermentation temp: Warmer temps (75–82°F) boost phenols and speed fermentation.

Handling & Storage

Store below 59°F (15°C) in a cool, dry place. Refrigeration recommended for extended shelf life. Use opened sachets promptly or reseal and refrigerate. Shelf life is 36 months from production date.

Our Yeast Handling Commitment

All yeast is refrigerated and monitored 24/7 to ensure maximum viability and freshness. Ice packs are available during checkout to help buffer temperature swings in transit. Melted packs are normal and protect yeast from thermal shock—not to maintain cold throughout shipping.
