Crisp Europils Lager Malt for Clean, Pale Beer
Crisp Europils Lager Malt is a pale lager-style base malt for brewers who want a clean, neutral malt foundation with low color contribution and a crisp finish. Crisp describes its lager malt as English two-row spring barley kilned at a low temperature, with excellent modification for efficient mashing and lautering.
Use this malt when the recipe should stay pale, bright, and fermentation-led rather than heavy or biscuit-forward. It fits pilsner-style beers, helles-inspired lagers, American lager, blonde ale, Kolsch-style ale, cream ale, and other light beer recipes where a restrained base malt is the point.
Why Brewers Use It
- Flavor: clean, neutral malt character that leaves room for hops, yeast, and fermentation profile.
- Finish: high fermentability helps support dry, crisp beer styles.
- Mash fit: well-modified malt that works in single-infusion programs as well as more traditional lager processes.
- Best fit: pilsner-style beer, pale lager, blonde ale, cream ale, and clean light ales.
Recipe Planning
Build the grist mostly or entirely around this malt when you want the base to stay subtle. For more malt options, compare our brewing grains and specialty grains.
